“Those of you who are watching certain news channels on which I’m not very popular, and you see folks waving tea bags around, Obama said, “let me just remind them that I am happy to have a serious conversation about how we are going to cut our health care costs down over the long term, how we are going to stabilize Social Security.”
Of course, the invitation to a “serious conversation” is a “rhetorical flourish” otherwise known as baloney. Michael Patrick Leahy issued a press release today saying he would take the president up on his offer of a conversation. Likelihood of a response – zero.
In this dismissal of our efforts, Obama not only marginalized every American who attended the Tax Day Tea Party, he managed to also whine about the unbiased coverage he receives from Fox News. Have you ever heard a president carry on in such a petty way about a news agency with whom he is “not very popular?” With what media outlet was George W. Bush “popular?”
I imagine this plays well with his base. Whining and sneering seems to be their forté.

It isn’t as special an award as being Olbermann’s Worst Person of the Day but a sneer from Obama has got to be considered a badge of good sense.
