Obama On Geithner’s Tax Evasion

“Look is this an embarrassment for him? Yes. He said so himself,” Mr. Obama said. “But it was an innocent mistake. It is a mistake that is commonly made for people who are working internationally or for international institutions. It has been corrected. He paid the penalties.”

Yep.  Just as soon as it became clear that his failure to pay was going to become national news, he paid those taxes and penalties.  Nothing like imminent exposure to motivate amends-making.

Meantime, Rush Limbaugh reminds listeners that Joe Biden told us paying higher taxes is patriotic. What does that make tax-dodger Geithner?

UPDATE:

Geithner not only didn’t pay his taxes, he was reimbursed for his unpaid taxes.  Read the story here.

  • apparently the extra money the IMF gives to pay the taxes is something the employee signs for and it is clear what it is. And Geithner pocketed it.
    Isn’t that stealing?
Until he got caught that is. And then STEALING is CHANGED to “MISTAKE.”

Is this the CHANGE we’ve all been waiting for?
    NOT!!!

  • Obama has said that this was an honest mistake. And since he had to fill out forms to get the IMF to reimburse him for the money he was supposed to pay in US taxes and since he had promised the IMF to spend that money on his US taxes, it could be said that it was honestly done with malice aforethought.

  • after the first time the IRS caught him, you could say it might have been “an honest mistake.” But the secondtime, when the Obamamas dug into his filings, they found THE SAME error so he paid then AGAIN. NOT AN HONEST MISTAKE THE SECOND TIME! But the Jellyfish Republicans on the Hill are approving him!!!!
