Terror attacks in Mumbai (Bombay) India.
At this writing: 101 confirmed dead, over 280 injured. The terrorists have used automatic weapons, and in some places grenades have been lobbed.
A group calling itself “Deccan Mujahideen” has claimed responsibility for the coordinated attacks on the city. This may be a front group for other, better known terror and radical organizations such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Harkat ul Jihad al Islami, the Students’ Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), Pakistan’s Inter-Service Intelligence and al Qaeda.
There have been 10 separate attacks across the city.
The terrorists are reported to be targeting Americans and Britons.
Recent American intelligence suggested the possibility of an attempted attention grab by Osama bin Laden before Barack Obama’s inauguration.

A very sad affair, hope a lot of people turn out in Mumbai and unite against terrorists (homegrown and foreign). I think i may have commented once before on this issue on your blog, your view has been amened to be inline with more level headedness.
I think conservative playbooks of Islamists, Hindus and Christians pretty similar. We can learn from the past or be the same in the future ahead. Something tells me if we do not act swiftly our children will inherit a very ugly future.
If Jane has a couple hours to throw away, she might be bit more enlightened. A documentary made in India, i am not sure if it is still banned, though it was for a while.

I have no hope for near future, if we “neutralize” the existing threat now, and start to invest in socio-economic development we may be able to harvest the benefits in 30 years time.
