Liberals to Black Voters: “Thanks, But You’re Bigots”

After spending nearly two years on the campaign trail appealing to the politically essential “African-American vote,” Barack Obama displayed his huge success with this demographic last Tuesday at the polls.  With well over 80% of African-American voters giving a nod to Obama (most estimates are 90% and above) and African-American voter turnout at it’s highest level ever, it would seem that all non-African American Obama supporters owe a debt of gratitude to their African-American, Obama supporting brethren.

Not so fast!  It seems that a majority of African American voters are social conservatives and believe in a traditional definition of marriage.  These same voters who turned out in force to vote for Obama in California also overwhelmingly voted yes to Proposition 8, a constitutional ban on gay marriage.  Now liberal, gay marriage supporters statewide are fighting mad, and many of them have set their sights on the very people who helped them elect The One.

Here’s this rant from the lovely Roseanne Barr:

“70% of black californians who voted this cycle voted for prop 8. As they overwhelmingly supported America’s first chance to elect a person of color and strike a death blow to racism, they also went out of their way to misuse their votes (no doubt at the behest of their immoral and hateful pastors and clergy) to isolate and punish a small minority of citizens, and to deny them basic civil rights. …  They showed themselves every inch as bigoted and ignorant as their white christian right wing counterpartners who voted for mccain-palin and bush-cheney. …  REPENT all ye bible blabbers!!!!”

This report from Gateway Pundit:

“It was like being at a klan rally except the klansmen were wearing Abercrombie polos and Birkenstocks. YOU N*GGER, one man shouted at men. If your people want to call me a F*GGOT, I will call you a n*gger. Someone else said same thing to me on the next block near the temple…me and my friend were walking, he is also gay but Korean, and a young WeHo clone said after last night the n*ggers better not come to West Hollywood if they knew what was BEST for them.”

This report from Rod 2.0:

Los Angeles resident and Rod 2.0 reader A. Ronald says he and his boyfriend, who are both black, were carrying NO ON PROP 8 signs and still subjected to racial abuse.

“Three older men accosted my friend and shouted, ‘Black people did this, I hope you people are happy!’ A young lesbian couple with mohawks and Obama buttons joined the shouting and said there were ‘very disappointed with black people’ and ‘how could we’ after the Obama victory. This was stupid for them to single us out because we were carrying those blue NO ON PROP 8 signs! I pointed that out and the one of the older men said it didn’t matter because ‘most black people hated gays’ and he was ‘wrong’ to think we had compassion. That was the most insulting thing I had ever heard.”

Compassion, charity, and tolerance.  Cornerstones of Democratic liberalism.

  • My response is the black race, in particular those of us in the Diaspora, had our history rudely interrupted by your ancestors. We have never fully recovered as we have been plagued by the after effects of racism ever since. I don’t recall the black race ever tampering with homosexuals or disturbed the course of their history. The other thing, whether it’s African American, Nigerian, Black British, West Indian etc, there is a thread that runs through the majority of us when it comes to homosexuality. Again simply put, yes, we follow the Bible and try as much as we can, to stick what the Word says. If God says stealing is stealing, who are we to object? So, it does not have anything to do with the individual per se but it has everything to do with the act. As a lot of us feel we are ‘living’ the Bible, we therefore find homosexuality objectionable because the Bible, clearly, that it is a sin.

If I complain about racism it is because I’m been restricted in my progress at work, or been excluded from certain clubs but there is no law on earth that can stop the white man from moving house as soon as I move next to him or excluding me from his home. As we know Obama has won, but his ‘winning’ does not mean racism will ever go away. All it means is that we can start some sort of dialogue.
