Sore Losers?

Tirelessly anti-Obama conservative bloggers went on the defensive last night, invoking all manner of vitriol in demeaning the new president-elect.  Oh wait.  Nevermind.

“…congratulations to Barry O on a race superbly run and to our country for not having let the wrong reasons deter it from making the wrong choice. I’ll never be a fan, but I swear I’ll never take a nutroots posture either in relishing his failures because it helps my party. Like it or not, he’s my president. As a great man once said, country first.” Allahpundit blog

“… we just peacefully elected the first black president – that’s a beautiful thing, truly.”  Peter Robinson, NRO The Corner

“I voted for John McCain because I admire him immensely as a person, and agree with him on many more issues than I do with Senator Obama. And I ask a rhetorical question: Can we McCain voters, without embarrassment, shed a tear of patriotic joy about the historic significance of what just happened? And I offer a short, rhetorical answer.  Yes, we can.”  Mike Potemra, NRO The Corner

“In so far as an Obama victory proves that America truly is a meritocracy where the arbitrary circumstances of your birth won’t impede your success, that is a wonderful, wonderful thing. …a reminder of how far we’ve come is such a short time, and that is something we as Americans can be proud of. An Obama presidency will stand or fall on its own merits — just as Martin Luther King Jr. would have wanted it.”   Mark Hemmingway, NRO The Corner

“Tonight let us salute and congratulate Senator Obama as the author of a brilliant campaign and pray that he achieves greatness in office. … May he always be in the right; but our president, right or wrong.”  Scott Johnson, Powerline blog

“Far more stunning and unlikely to me than electing the first black man to be President is that America has just elected the first Joe Biden to be Vice-President.  Amazing.”  Mark Steyn, NRO The Corner
